BBC Introducing – Henley Festival

Performing on the floating stage at Henley Festival as part of BBC Music Introducing was a great experience. This was my first festival gig and it was fun to play on the main stage.

Lorne Music

I have spent the last year performing on my own at small music venues in London, so when BBC Introducing booked me to play at Henley Festival, I started looking for a bass player and a drummer.

I was lucky to find two great musicians – Alex for bass and Matt for drums. To get ready for Henley, we did a warm-up gig together at The Old Queen’s Head in June and at The Finsbury on 9th July.

We played 7 songs, which included old songs and new songs. We opened the set with Oil and Water, Navigate and Cocoon, which are from my debut EP ‘Maze’.

After playing the EP, Alex and I played an old song of mine called Bow Out. It’s a piano ballad I wrote a few years ago that I am hoping to release at some point in the future.

To finish the set, we played The Alchemist, Here Come The Sharks and This is Our Cloud. These three are a bit more upbeat than the downbeat, melancholic feel of the EP.

BBC Interview

After the set, I had an interview with BBC presenter Bridgitte Tetteh from Radio Berkshire to talk about my journey so far, the gig and my future plans.
